Visitors in the know from Canada, Germany, France, UK and Portugal are lining up to return to the Tuxpan Hotel that has just reopened after a six-month face lift.
Barely an adult at 18 years old, the Tuxpan is located on one of the best sections of the famous Varadero Beach, 150 km east of Havana and close to the 18-hole golf course.
Its new image provides more comfort in its 233 rooms, and now delights all ages with its three restaurants, including a buffet, five bars, two pools with Jacuzzis for adults and one pool for kids, a game and entertainment area, and even a mini club for children between 5 and 10 years old.
The beach on the hotel's northern side is the biggest draw however, and visitors claim the water is bluer and more attractive here than anywhere else in Varadero. Whether after a short swim or after partaking of the water sports centre with sailing, surfing, canoes, pedal boats, water-skiing and catamarans, guests often succumb to a nap on the golden sand.
Another appeal for visitors is the "La Bamba" disco, which provides soft animation programs during the day and various evening shows with traditional live folklore music.
