Terry Fox Donation
By: Astrid Barnet
Terry Fox, the young Canadian who gave his name and life to help eradicate cancer, would have been proud to come to Cuba and share with this cohesive, modest and responsible people said Canadian Ambassador Jean Pierre Juneau in Havana when he gave Dr. Esteban García, chief of the Oncology and Radiobiology Institute of Cuba (INOR in Spanish), a check for $CAN 32,625 for research to fight mammary and cervical-uterine cancer.
The money came from voluntary donations by institutions, companies and individuals during the 10th Terry Fox Marathon of Hope Run in March, together with the profits from the Benefit Night organized by the Canadian Embassy in Cuba.
