Romería de Mayo
Held during the first week of May in Holguin. The former religious event became a cultural integration celebration gathering representatives from all the Latin American area and even Europe.
May 17-25. International Cubadisco Fair.
The introduction to Cubadisco 2008 is "The longest rumba of the world".Starting Saturday May 3, Cubans (and friends) will rumba their way the length of the country from Guantánamo to Pinar del Rio, ending in Havana on May 17.
May - June. International Hemingway Fishing Tournament.
Held at Marina Hemingway, Havana. Fishing event started by Hemingway himself in 1950 and taking place every year since. It annually attracts hundreds of sports fishing professionals and enthusiasts to try their luck with marlin, tuna and wahoo.
June 6-30. International Golden Boleros Festival.
Held in Havana featuring the bolero, a traditional Cuban song that has spread to other Latin American countries.
July 1 - 31 August. Havana Carnival.
Street parades, dancing and general celebration every weekend. The famous Havana Carnival is a noisy event taking place in weekends during July and August. The mixture of colors, people dancing and music on the street together with the drinks available to fight the extreme heat are sufficient reasons to hit the streets...
