Strolling Alon The City's Soul
The "Malecon", or the sea wall along the north coast to Havana, is an absolute must-see place for all visitors coming to Cuba. It is engraved in Cubans' mind and sometimes referred to as the soul of the city.
1. Start near the Parque Central in Old Havana at the beautiful 10-block long shaded promenade named the Paseo del Prado. Completed in 1852, the Prado connects Parque Central and Havana Harbor and is a pedestrian space and park where many locals pass their free time.
2. Reach the end of the Prado and visit the Fortress of San Salvador de la Punta located at the entrance of the Old Havana. The Fortress holds the Museum of Maritime and Submarine Archeology. Open Wednesday through Sunday from 10:00 to 17:30 for an entrance fee of $CUC 3.00.
