Hasta Pronto - Todd Bennett

Todd Bennett was born in Deer Lake, Newfoundland in 1956. He moved to Halifax in 1976 and continues to live there today. He stumbled into photography in 1979 at the age of 23 when a friend received a Nikon FE 35mm film camera as a gift. Neither knew anything about photography but Todd tackled the manual and managed to load a roll of film and took the first roll of pictures. He remembers getting back the photographs and being amazed with the images - a photographer was born. Shortly after that, he bought his first camera, a Canon AT-1 35mm. His friend never did learn how to use his expensive Nikon but Todd quickly became adept and started to study the art of photography. Within six months, he bought a Mamiya 645, received a few lessons from another friend who was a wedding photographer, and started shooting weddings and portraits. For the next 10 years, he worked part time as a wedding and portrait photographer and became quite skilled at shooting landscape scenery, earning several awards
