After winning several awards in his country of birth, including a FIART (International Crafts Fair) award in 1999, José M. Rivéron-Benedí is moving to the foreground of runways in the highly demanding European fashion market. Self-taught, Riverón-Benedí comes from a family of fabric merchants so, from the moment he opened his eyes, he was surrounded by fabrics and yarn and from there developed his interest in fashion.
For just over a decade, Riverón-Benedí has worked alternately in Havana and Hamburg (Germany), where in 2003 he created his own fashion label: Bénédí. In 2005 he received the German "New Faces Award" as best new designer. Since then Bénédí is presenting his Ready To Wear collections in Paris, distributing worldwide. In 2009 Bénédí was selected by the Camera della Moda Italiana (the Italian Fashion Chamber) amongst the best international new coming Designers for Women's Wear.
