By: Héctor Miranda
Teófilo Stevenson, several times an Olympic and world champion boxer, is today a true living legend among his fellow countrymen.
Three Olympic gold medals and several world titles turned this Cuban heavyweight into the greatest amateur boxer of all time.
Before Stevenson, winner in Munich 1972, Montreal 1976 and Moscow 1980, only the Hungarian Laszlo Papp managed to get three golds between 1948 and 1956, while Félix Savón succeeded in reaching similar titles to his name in Barcelona 1992, Atlanta 1996 and Sydney 2000.
