Press release on the arrival to Cuba of visitor Two Million of 2011
Cuba receives on September 17, in record date, visitor number Two million of 2011, for the eighth consecutive year since 2004 and 32 days before the same event in 2010.
For our country to reach this figure has become usual, but that's not a reason to stop celebrating such an achievement, which shows the position of Cuba as a tourist destination in the world and the high rate of visitors returning. Those are facts constituting a binding and growing commitment with those who
choose us and with our people. All this by showing ourselves to the world
just as we are: totally authentic, as the slogan of our promotional campaign, Auténtica Cuba.
This encourages us to provide a more competitive and efficient tourism and
allows us to acknowledge the collaboration in this effort brought by friends around the world: customers, tourism operation partners, tour operators, travel agencies, airlines and associated hotel chains, tourism workers, officials, press and communicators, among others, that have made possible what has been achieved today.
During 2011 we recorded a significant growth in arrivals of tourists from Canada, Russia, and South America. We also noticed progress in national tourism, one of our main work lines.
Canada has established itself as the main source market for Cuba, and United Kingdom, as the most important in Europe, followed by Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Mexico, Argentina and Russia, among others.
Getting to this number of visitors, near the start of the 2011-2012 winter season, confirms our commitment with a peace, health, safety and trust tourism for those who choose us.
