One Night in Havana: Showcasing 50's Glamour
Havanarte Productions, along with the Benny More Cultural Center, brought the 20 piece show "One Night In Havana" to Ontario, Canada. The show was a recreation of 1950's music, a time when Cuban rhythms such as cha-cha-cha, bolero, mambo and danzon, became known worldwide and Havana started to be what is today…one of the most prolific and important music centers on our continent.
The Famous Las Daida quartet, founded at that time, brought with them founders Lilita Penalver and Maritza Montero.
Accompanying the quartet was Son Del Tropical band, an orchestra that started in the 1950's and has been traveling many countries as genuine representatives of Cuban traditional music.
The dance ensemble Pinos Nuevos joined these musicians, bringing 8 dancers who recreated all the Cuban dance rhythms and showed off typical clothing from the 50's era in Cuba...
